The Wanderer, the first single from Picture One’s upcoming full length Hearts of the Terminus, lyrically deals with concepts of emotional accountability and self awareness through introspection and growth. It’s about overcoming destructive patterns and striving to become a better individual.
This striking dance track begins with a pounding double kick LinnDrum, airy choral synths and echoey vocals recalling 80s UK gothic rock before launching into a hook driven verse reminiscent of electro era New Order. The chorus calls heavily upon Giorgio Moroder produced pop music while borrowing vocal phrasing from genres as varied as sophisti-pop to black metal.
lyrics
A hatred lives far below
And emotions bled it was terminal
To only know what you know
Deceived by instincts decided long ago
Our hatred lives in these catacombs
Where we fight for death, fight for what you know
Oh to see through clear eyes
And what is so?
When all is fogged by the years
So how can we know?
Our hatred lives in these catacombs
Where we fight for death, fight for what you know
Because, lights ablaze in this cold
Because these patterns are frail and old
Uphold this fire with your heart of gold
And onto stories unforetold
Because, lights ablaze in this cold
Because these patterns are frail and old
Uphold this fire with your heart of gold
And onto stories unforetold
And down in craters far below
When love burns hot, the infection grows
And we’re destroyed by what we know
I want to erased these instincts decided long ago
Our hatred lives in these catacombs
Where we fight for death, fight for what you know
Because, lights ablaze in this cold
Because these patterns are frail and old
Uphold this fire with your heart of gold
And onto stories unforetold
Because, lights ablaze in this cold
Because these patterns are frail and old
Uphold this fire with your heart of gold
And onto stories unforetold

I've always enjoyed Boy Harsher but I don't think they ever really clicked in my brain until I watched The Runner. Now I can't get enough. Gordon Skramzy (Nathan)
It's uncanny just how good Actors is at emulating that Post-Punk synth sound from my younger days.
Each listen just gets better and better. I feel slightly ashamed for not having heard this album until a few short days ago. modestwriggles
